The activities, classes and processing and integrating of experience is what Briar focuses on. She loves thinking up new ways in a variety of settings that you can let go of what no longer serves you and touch aspects of yourself that may have been underdeveloped. Teaching mindfulness and ACT workshops, yoga for emotional balance classes, giving private sessions and helping you stay mindful while engaged in the activities that take you out of your comfort zone, is Briar’s area.
Long before Briar trained as a psychologist, she qualified as a yoga and meditation teacher. After her 20’s, spent travelling and trying to squeeze herself into careers she thought she should have, she finally realised that it had been in front of her since her first yoga class at age 9 - her love for going within and watching other people do so and become more who they really are. The decision at 28 to train as a yoga and meditation teacher was the best and most important step that would lead to her work - helping people let go of suffering and become more flexible and free. Since qualifying to teach yoga at 30, Briar has worked with many groups - in classes, in organsiations and on retreats - helping people come home to their bodies and themselves through mindful movement and meditation. The study of psychological science and acceptance and commitment therapy that came next means she now is able to combine several evidenced based approaches to personal development. Never finished with learning, her studies continue with a doctorate in psychology focusing on mindfulness based treatment approaches underway.
